Racine's Blue Wave award-winning North Beach will be the site of Wisconsin's only pro beach volleyball event for 2007 as the Corona Light EVP Tour hits the beach on July 14-15.  About 100 pro volleyball players from across the country are expected to take part in the event on Saturday, July 14 where they will compete for a $10,000 prize purse. Racine was a popular site for participants and spectators alike, garnering the 2006 EVP Host City of the Year Award. The event is sponsored by the Racine County Convention and Visitors Bureau and is free to the public.

The "center court" will host professional games throughout the day. Team dugouts and tents surround the area providing shelter for players and spectators.  Two-person men's' and women's teams from as far away as Huntington Beach, Hermosa Beach, Santa Barbara and Santa Cruz, California; Portland (OR); Chicago; Detroit; Minneapolis; St. Louis; Omaha and Miami are expected.  In addition to the $2,000 first place cash, the teams are competing to earn points toward the series overall championship.  There will also be a Corona Light co-ed PRO-AM event that day with three levels- recreational, advanced and power.

Sunday will feature 4 on 4 and 6 on 6 tournaments and the Corona Light Men's and Women's "B" Tournament.  To register for these events go to www.evptour.com.  Throughout the weekend there will be lots of fun and exciting games, contests and special events for spectators and novice players to participate in. Friday night's pre-party will again be at the Ivanhoe Pub and Eatery.   Saturday night's festivities will be at Spinnakers, a great new spot overlooking the hundreds of yachts and cruisers anchored in Reefpoint Marina.

Watch for event updates in the upcoming months.  This is sure to be the biggest party of the summer.  For more info contact the Racine County Convention and Visitors Bureau at 1-800-2-RACINE or check out www.racine.org.
